Amid the conflict between South Korea and Vietnam arising from the controversy surrounding the PUBG Asia Stars 2026 event, it is reported that the management agencies of Korean streamers have been collecting malicious comments, false information, malicious mockery using streamers' photographs, and sexual harassment since the first day of the tournament, when malicious comments from Vietnamese users began appearing.

According to the information received, five professional viral marketing agencies are collecting unique IDs, profile pictures, names, and other identifying information from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and other online platforms.

The five professional viral marketing agencies have previously submitted information disclosure requests to YouTube and pursued legal proceedings, so caution is advised.

Under South Korea's amended Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (Information and Communications Network Act), which took effect on July 7, 2026, platforms operating in South Korea are required to provide information concerning obscene content and false information distributed through information and communications networks. Therefore, this is expected to have significant repercussions

 

If South Korea submits an official request for investigative cooperation, the investigation could be expanded through the existing law enforcement cooperation between South Korea and Vietnam.

There have been previous cases in which five South Korean and Vietnamese nationals who operated online pornography and gambling websites in Vietnam were deported from Vietnam and prosecuted in South Korea.

The penalties imposed on the Vietnamese nationals were reportedly two years of imprisonment in South Korea and five years of imprisonment in Vietnam
