Following the disciplinary action, TanVuu uploaded a short video explaining his side of the story.

 

TanVuu's Statement

"Both AL and TE are appealing the decision. This matter isn't worth taking things this far.

So Himass and I... well, I don't really know, because Banno Jub said that 'stream sniping was okay.' So we just went stream sniping with our teammates and went looking for SOOPI.

We didn't intend for things to go this far. We were just playing that way, and the next day, Himass and I were told to post an apology.

We posted an apology. They told us to post it in Korean, so we did.

But they still wouldn't forgive us. The Korean side started making reaction videos and turned the whole thing into a much bigger issue."

Commentary

Objectively speaking, the situation has already escalated, and their response to the controversy was immature.

SOOPI was already being subjected to cyberbullying, while Vietnamese PUBG fans, outraged by the controversy, began creating sexually explicit deepfake content and posting insults directed at South Korea.

The situation may have already reached a point of no return, and an apology might now be too late.

From the perspective of many observers, TanVuu's statement appears to be nothing more than an attempt to shift the blame onto the Korean side
